Sheila Moody, 93, passed away on January 8, 2022 in Austin, Texas.

Sheila was born to John G. White and Harriet F. White on June 27, 1928 and grew up at 6 Siders Pond Road in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Sheila graduated from Lawrence High School and received her Associates Degree from Dean Junior College. She worked as a secretary in Boston and then at Otis Air Force Base, Cape Cod, where she met her future husband, Lt Sidney E. Moody. They married in 1954. In the ensuing years, they welcomed three children: Sidney Jr., Suzanne, and Jay.

Sheila lived the life of a typical military wife of her generation, moving frequently and taking care of her family while her husband served. Among her many moves after departing Cape Cod, she lived in Syracuse, NY, Colorado Springs, CO, and Sacramento, CA. The family moved to San Antonio in 1960, the first of three assignments in the Alamo City. She lived in Boston from 1963-1965 while Sid earned his MBA at Harvard Business School, back to San Antonio from 1965-1969 living in Alamo Heights, and then to Taipei, Taiwan from 1969-1973. During her time in the Republic of China, Sheila taught English to Taiwanese military officers and was involved in the Officers' Wives Club. She and the children remained in Taiwan for a year while Sid was stationed in Vietnam.

After moving back to the U.S., Sheila lived in Warner Robins, GA and in 1976, returned to San Antonio for the final time where she lived at Randolph AFB, Oak Hollow Estates, Mission Ridge, and Independence Village/Hill. She was a people person who enjoyed the company of family and friends, and she was active for years in Newcomers of San Antonio and ACT II. Sheila was a breast cancer survivor in her late 50s. After recovering, she and Sid enjoyed many trips throughout the world.

In 2018, after the death of her husband, Sheila moved to Austin to be closer to her daughter.

Sheila never lost her love for Cape Cod and maintained connections there throughout her life. She and Sid would visit Falmouth almost annually in later years to visit family and friends, including her aunts in North Falmouth: Francis Coughlin, Mary Fielden, Rosaline Medeiros, Helen Baker, and Bessie White.

Sheila was preceded in death by her husband of 63-years, Colonel Sidney E. Moody, and her son Sidney Moody, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Pittman of Austin, TX, her son, Colonel Jay Moody of Colorado Springs, CO, grandsons Michael Pittman of Fort Worth and Justin Pittman of Dallas, and granddaughters Christianna Moody and Alexis Moody, also of Colorado Springs.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Northwest Hills/Clare Bridge and Brookdale Hospice for their excellent care of Sheila over the last 3 years.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, on Thursday, January 27, at Porter Loring North, 2102 N. Loop 1604, San Antonio. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
