Doris Kennedy Griffin, age 85, passed away on January 18, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on April 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Walter Kennedy and Annie Liza Evans Kennedy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Griffin; her son, Robert Wayne Griffin; her daughter, Sheila Joyner; her grandchildren, Scotty and Andy Joyner; her brothers, Bill Kennedy, Charlie Earl Kennedy, and Averon Kennedy; her sisters, Sue Lyndsey, Annie Mae Williams, Maggie Johnson, Martha Jones, and Louise Shearin; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Griffin; and her son-in-law, Steve Joyner.

Doris was a woman of great faith. She was a former member of Emmanuel Holiness Church. She loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers in her yard. She will be deeply missed. She made a difference in the life of everyone who knew her and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Lisa Dickerson (Andy) of Sharpsburg and Debra Edmonson of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren, Steve Joyner (Crystal), Shane High (Johneshia), Megan Griffin, Brandon Griffin, Amy Parker, Megan Edmondson, and Tiffany Edmondson; her great-grandchildren, Steven Joyner, Dillion Joyner, Jerelle Hagens, Haley Bradford, Brooke Joyner, Tristan Ray Sykes, Johnathan High, and Johnaysia High; and her many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Doris' life will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Joyner Family Cemetery. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
