Larry Richard Jackson, 69, of Raleigh transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at his home.

Larry was born in Sayre, Oklahoma on February 13, 1952 to Thomas Leon Jackson and Hazel Irene (Miller) Jackson.

As a child of an Air Force veteran, Larry lived in the Philippines from 1954-1956, San Antonio, TX from 1956-1958, stayed a year in Reydon, OK while his father went to Germany and then lived in Germany from 1959-1963. He then moved back to the United States to Illinois in 1963 and then to Tampa, FL in 1964. Larry spent his teenage years in Tampa and then in 1974, moved to Reydon, OK. Larry got his GED and then moved to Oklahoma City to attend United Electronics Institute in 1975 where he met his wife, Linda.

Larry and Linda were married on June 17, 1977 and lived in Del City, OK. During that time they traveled to Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas, Hawaii and took a car trip to Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas.

Linda was promoted with her job at IBM in 1983 and they moved to the Catskill mountains in upstate NY and lived there 4 years. Larry worked for a meat company and delivered meat to restaurants all across NY during that time.

In 1986, Linda was given the opportunity to transfer to Raleigh, NC, so Larry and Linda headed south to warmer weather!

In October 1988, Larry and Linda's only child, their pride and joy, a son, Joshua, was born. From then on out, you couldn't wipe the smile off Larry's face and couldn't talk to him without hearing all about Josh, at least until recently when Larry found out on April 30 that he was going to be a grandfather. After that, you got to hear all about Josh and that he was going to be a grandfather. Larry became a grandpa to Makayla Grace Jackson on January 5, 2022, only 4 days before he left us. Unfortunately, he never got to meet her in person, but if you talked to Larry or saw him in those 4 days, he was beaming with joy while telling you about her and showing you pictures of her.

Since moving to Raleigh, Larry has worked for various companies, but always something that involved working with the public, as Larry never met a stranger he couldn't carry on a conversation with.

Throughout the years, Larry was an avid bowler. Larry belonged to many bowling leagues during in his younger days. He bowled his one and only perfect 300 game on November 17, 1999 and then had to stop bowling a few year after that due to his bad knees.

He started getting Josh involved with bowling at the young age of 6. He was always at the bowling alley helping coordinate youth leagues, coaching youth bowlers, watching Josh bowl, and rooting him on and taking him to bowling tournaments.

Larry was also a huge OU Sooner football fan. There is hardly a time when you didn't see Larry in an OU t shirt and baseball cap. His cremated remains will be kept in a very nice OU Sooners urn.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Leon Jackson, his mother, Hazel Irene (Miller) Jackson, and his sister, and Danna Brey. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Sue (Wojcak) Jackson; son, Joshua Ryan Jackson, and granddaughter, Makayla Grace Jackson; and his sisters, Nancy Gwen (Jackson) Alford and Judy Ann (Jackson) Wright .

There are no public services scheduled at this time due to Covid. The family is planning on perhaps having a memorial gathering at a later date when Covid is not as rampant as it is now, perhaps one in Raleigh and one in Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, our family is requesting a donation be made to the Bowl4Life Foundation in memory of Larry Jackson. Bowl4Life Foundation (www.bowl4life.com) has committed to award 100% of donations to youth bowlers in the form of scholarships for college. Please go to the Bowl4Life website and click on the donate button. Leave a note in memory of Larry Jackson and you may also leave a message which will be forwarded to our family.

Larry loved working with the junior bowlers so this will honor his memory. He would be so proud and honored to be part of assisting young people. Thank you in advance for helping make this a huge success.
