Virginia Rose Dennis Carter
October 27, 1923 - January 18, 2022 (age 98)

Virginia Rose Carter, 98, passed away in Enoch, Utah on Tuesday January 18, 2022. Virginia was born October 27, 1923, in Clay Center, Kansas to Charles Victor and Rebecca Dennis. While working in the pay center at Ft. Riley, Kansas, she met Arlan "Bud" Carter. On November 19, 1944, they were married in Clay Center, Kansas. After three years of military service, Bud was honorably discharged and they moved back to Bud's hometown of Minersville, Utah. On June 9, 1962, Bud and Virginia were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple and their children were sealed to them.

Virginia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. She thoroughly enjoyed her involvement in the scouting program.

She was an incredibly hard-working wife and mother throughout her entire life. She worked on the family farm in Minersville moving the cows to and from the dairy barn for milking every day, (Even while pushing a baby carriage). After they moved to Kanarraville, Utah, while Bud worked for Union Pacific Railroad, the family raised chickens and delivered thousands of eggs to patrons in Cedar City. She worked at East Elementary School in Cedar, worked at commercial house cleaning, and was a nurse's aide at Cedar Hospital for 30 years.

Virginia loved sewing, cross-stitch, crocheting, and tying quilts. She tied at least a hundred quilts, (About 80 of them completed in the past five years of her life), and gave them to every child, grandchild, great-grandchild, and great-great-grandchild in the family. Also, many baby quilts were donated to Primary Children's Hospital. She canned the annual harvest of their large vegetable gardens, bottling dozens of quarts and pints of fruits, vegetables, salsa and relish every year, sharing much of the yield with family, friends, and those she would see in need.

Virginia is survived by her children: Gary (Mary) Carter of Elk Ridge, Utah, Randy (Lauana) Carter of Enoch, Karma (Ross) Low of Riverton, Utah, Jeff Carter of Parowan, Utah, and Brad Carter of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also, her 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Loren; son, Dennis; and daughters-in-law Brenda Carter and LaVonna Carter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Homestead Chapel, 1390 East Midvalley Road in Enoch, Utah. Viewing will be held on Saturday, 22nd from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the chapel, prior to funeral services. Interment will be at the Enoch City Cemetery, all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. www.sumortuary.com
