Mrs. Jeanne D. Hatcher Woodard, 84, departed this life Monday June 14th, 2021 after a long period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Hazel Hatcher and the wife of her high school sweetheart, the late William Ray Woodard for 60 years. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday June 18, 2021 at 2 PM in Micro Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors on Friday at the church from 1 PM to 2 PM. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Garden. God blessed her with the gift of music. She in turn, shared music for nearly 72 years, through worship services, VBS programs, plays, cantatas, weddings, funerals, and teaching to others. All in dedication, ministry, and thanks to Him for that gift. She began secretarial work at Micro school in 1961 and served there through the 1970s, afterward filling in as a substitute teacher for a few more years. She loved flowers, art, animals, yard sales (and sweets)- and getting together with friends and family, particularly family reunions, as long as her health permitted her to do so. All of these activities kept her busy- but she made time for Bible study. She was far from perfect, and sometimes quick tempered, but she knew and trusted in the Lord savior Jesus Christ and His word. She leaves behind 2 sons Vick (Sallie) Vince (Laura) 4 grandchildren Joel (Rebecca), Sam (Lindsey), Candice Alford (Scott), Nathan Woodard, and 5 great grandchildren Reese, Jase and Thomas Woodard, Makayla and Griffin Alford. In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Micro Free Will Baptist Church 104 US-301, Micro, NC 27555 , Micro United Methodist Church 108 Fayetteville St, Micro, NC 27555 or to ASPCA PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929.
