Edith was the daughter of Melvin Martin Sr and Addie Mae Whitaker Martin. She was educated in the Macon County School System and was a Class of 1977 graduate of D. F. Douglas High School in Montezuma, Georgia. She was employed with Southern Frozen Foods in Montezuma, Georgia for 28 years until her health declined. She enjoyed sewing, decorating and planting flowers. She was a member of the Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia.
She was married to Hozie James Brown. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter, LaWanda Brown and 2 brothers, Milton Brown and Marion Brown.
