She graduated from South Whitehall High School in 1945, was accepted to the last class of the Army Nurse Cadet Corp and graduated from the former Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. Ruth then went to Oklahoma and worked for the Indian Hospital Services. That is where she met her husband Harry, who was a registered Chickasaw Indian. When they moved back to Pennsylvania, Ruth went on to work for Trexler Nursing Services for several years and was also a private duty nurse from 1963 to 1995.
She was a co-owner of Personal Tours of the Lehigh Valley for many years. Ruth was part of the Hayseed Players, who performed plays in PA Dutch Dialect, even traveling to Germany to perform. She was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church in Orefield where she was on Church council for many years. Ruth was very involved in the planning of the Lehigh Valley Bicentennial Celebration.
Survivors: Several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a son James E. and siblings, Arlene Fegley, Verna Stebbins, Alma Fronheiser, Rena Duddek, and Marcus Guth.
Services: 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 25 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Rd., Orefield, with the Rev. Dody S. Siegfried officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Church. Interment, Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville.
