Edna Loretta "Rita" Dotson was born on November 12, 1934, in Independence, Oregon, her father, Joseph Benjamin Dotson, being 35 years of age, and her mother, Anna Loretta Byers, being 28 when she was born. She married Don Richard McCracken in 1957 and they had two children together, Kevin Michael McCracken, and Karen Lisa McCracken. Later in life she would go on to marry Robert Craig Johnson with whom she had one daughter with, Caroline Anita Johnson. She died on January 11, 2022, at the age of 87.
She was predeceased by her son Kevin Michael McCracken (1960—1986) who was killed on a USCG rescue mission in Kodiak Alaska, her first husband Don Richard McCracken (1930—2018), and her second husband Robert Craig Johnson (1940—2014). She was predeceased also, by her parents Joseph Benjamin Dotson (1899—1979), and Anna Loretta Byers (1906—1976).
She had one sister, Hazel, and at least two half-siblings, Marjorie and Joseph, are known from her father's previous marriage to Maybelle Margaret Dorman. She is survived by her sister, two of her children, grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Gravesite Details
Her ashes were scattered into two of her favorite rivers in Oregon. The Mckenzie river outside of Springfield, and the Powder river outside of Baker.
