He was born April 1, 1955 at Wyoming General Hospital in Mullens, to the late Rev. Ronald C. and Irene Sparks Adkins.
He was a member of the Mullens Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M. Donnie was an avid motor sports fan; he loved watching the Mountaineers, and he enjoyed watching westerns.
Donnie owned and operated several businesses, including, Adkins Shell and Adkins Exxon in Mullens, Adkins Excavation Company, and Adkins Car Sales, and had been a school bus driver for the Wyoming Board of Education.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Lynnie Adkins, his mother and father-in-law, Harold and Pemberly Beavers; a sister-in-law, Patty Presley.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-six years, Susan Beavers Adkins; his children, Adam Hatcher and wife Robin, and Laura Coalson and husband Brent; grandchildren, Adam, Kaleb, Carter, Judah, and Clara. His siblings, Patty Hickman and her friend Larry, and Greg Adkins and his wife Rhonda. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 2 PM with Pastor Ronnie Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. The Mullens Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites and serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from noon until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
