Funeral service for Dorothy M. Shelton, 84, of Mountain Park, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Snyder with the Rev. David Swafford of Springfield, Mo., and the Rev. Randell Newby of Yale officiating.

Mrs. Shelton went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve, 2007.

Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.

She was born Jan. 12, 1923, to Henry and Bessie (Mizell) Estoll in Lindale, Texas. Dorothy was the third of seven children. She attended school at Con-8 in Centerville and became the proud recipient of a GED in 1993. At the age of 15 she met Wilton J. Shelton and the two married in a ceremony in 1941 at Manitou. They traveled a great deal during their 44-year marriage, living all over the Western United States and producing 11 children along the way. Used to caring for many kids, Dorothy never had to deal with an empty-nest, as she became a beloved "grandma" to many more children as a school employee/cook in the Navajo and Snyder/Mountain Park schools until she retired at the age of 78. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Snyder, where she served as the secretary/treasurer for many years. Dorothy kept a sharp mind by attending classes at WOSC, doing crossword puzzles and memorizing entire chapters of the Bible. As a brilliant seamstress, painter and crochet artist, she provided her family with many tokens of her love and proof of her talents. Grandma Dot will be forever missed and remembered for her enduring love and faith; her many talents and for those famous cinnamon rolls and chocolate gravy.

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend; she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, one grandchild, one son-in-law and her husband.

Dorothy is survived by all her children, Charlena S. Idell of Tipton, Calif., Larry Shelton and his wife Ann of Porterville, Calif., James Shelton of Medicine Park, Shirlena Ayers and her husband Pat of Snyder, Perry Shelton and his wife Brenda of Altus, Brenda Blankenship and her husband Mark of Valley View, Texas, Joe Mack Shelton of Snyder, Wilton Leslie Shelton of Oklahoma City, Anita Shelton of Mountain Park, Janice Crume and her husband Dennis of Granite, and Angela Shelton of McAllen, Texas; sister, Erma (Kitchens) Font of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Shelton of Manitou, and Betty Estoll of Marysville, Calif.; grandchildren, Sharla, Shane, Larry Don, Jacqueline Dawn, Stacey, Joshua, Jessica, Cole, Paul, Brad, Patty, Lynn, Samuel, Joel, Steven, Katie, Micah, Jesse, Shana, Nikki, Wilton Jessie, Matthew, Chandra, Ivy, Sarah, Joseph, Leah, Rachel, Leslie, Casey, Zac, Brandon and Brian; 43 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends and Church family.
