Paul Day, age 78 of Watertown, SD passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Prairie Lakes Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, January 21, 2022 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Pastor Randy Bader officiating and Aris Schmidt as the organist.

Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm, at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown with Military Honors conducted by NESD Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054 and the South Dakota Army National Guard.

Pallbearers will be Jon Day, Jeremy Day, Chad Kranz, Jeff Kranz, Dillon Kranz and John Paulson.

Paul Edward Day was born July 20, 1943 to Alvin and Leona (Benike) Day in Clark, South Dakota at Mabel Stacey's house. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1961. He attended SDSU and graduated in 1965. Paul served two years in the United States Army with one year in Vietnam and the other year at Walter Reed Hospital and also time in Texas and California.

Paul married Sheila Matteson on June 26, 1970 in Watertown, South Dakota. Paul and Sheila enjoyed traveling and going to NASCAR races. They traveled to all 50 states and to several countries.

Paul was employed at McCains potato processing in Clark for 24 years and then at Glacial Lakes Energy in Watertown for four and one half years.

He belonged to the Genealogy Club at the Watertown Regional Library.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Sheila of Watertown; his two sons, Jon Day of Rapid City, SD and Jeremy (Daena) Day of Marshfield, WI; four grandchildren, Julia Taber, Abbey, Ezra and August Day; his sisters-in-law, Nelda Titus of Watertown, SD and Marlene Johnson of Clark, SD; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jenny and Kevin Kranz of Kranzburg, SD, Laurie and Randy Resick of Guthrie, OK, Brenda and John Paulson of Watertown, SD; and many nephews and nieces.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Johnson and Jack Titus.
