Marilyn Jo Green Williams, 85, of Ringgold passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. Mrs. Williams was a native of Chattanooga and East Ridge, lived throughout the world with her husband, Captain Paul H. Williams CHC USN (Ret), and for the past 30 years in Ringgold. Mrs. Williams was a 1954 graduate of Central High School and was named the very first Miss East Ridge in 1953. While growing up in East Ridge, Mrs. Williams and her family were members of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano. During her time as a Navy Chaplain's wife, she volunteered numerous hours of her time to many organizations including the PWOC and the American Red Cross. After moving back to North Georgia in the early 1990's, Mrs. Williams worked for several years as a receptionist with Flegal Insurance in Rossville. She also was instrumental with the Rossville Community Ministries while Paul was the pastor at Rossville First Baptist Church. Most recently, Mrs. Williams was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church. Throughout the years she was a Choir member, a soloist with a beautiful soprano voice, Sunday school teacher, Pre School Teacher and volunteer. Her passions in life were God, her family, music, and art.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel R. Green and Hattie Beaird Green; and siblings, Hal Green, Fannie Green, Berith Green, Bill Green, Ila Reno, and Lois Dietz.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Captain Paul H. Williams CHC USN (Ret); three children, Jonathan D. Williams (Christy), Robin W. Murray, and Susan W. Allison (Brad); sister, Sadie White (Jim), ten grandchildren, Robert Murray (Amy), Melissa J. Allison, Samantha W. McNeil (Chris), Gregory J. Allison, Cody L. Williams (Colleen), Laura J. Allison, John P. Williams, Mary Cate Williams, Grace M. Williams, and Michael G. Williams; 7 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Condolences may be shared and live webcasting of Mrs. Williams's service will be available at www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 5:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Eric Kennedy officiating.

Interment will be Friday at 11:00a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00p.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
