Charlie was an early member of the Illinois Railway Museum. At the time of his passing he was Member #1, indicating that he has been a voting member longer than anyone else. He was also active in the Electric Railway Historic Society, which was merged with IRM 1972. He was a former CTA employee and single-handedly saved CSL trolley coach #84 for IRM, the oldest operating trolley coach in the country. He was a good friend and one of the first people we met when visiting IRM. His stories about working at CTA were absolutely priceless!
