Author. He was an Austrian writer of at least 24 novels and a television screenwriter. From 1975 to 1979, he wrote for the German-speaking television series "A real Viennese Doesn't Perish" and his last production was the 2008 series, "The Hanno-Herz-Story." He wrote five stage plays. Ernst Leopold Hinterberger was only seven years old when his father died. In 1950 he began training as a security guard at the Vienna Police School, but stopped in 1952 due to a visual impairment. After that, he worked as an unskilled worker. In 1958 Hinterberger married and attended the library school of the municipality of Vienna, where he worked for 10 years as a library manager in public education institutions. It was during this time, he started writing. After the closure of these libraries in 1968, he worked as a travel agent and in a factory until his retirement in 1991. On June 12, 2012, his urn was buried in an honorary grave in the grove of honor of the Vienna Central Cemetery. He practiced Buddhism. He married twice. Several sites have been named in his honor.
