John J. Powers age 85 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully Sunday, January 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 12, 1936, in Prairie du Chien the son of James and Clara (Berntgen) Powers. John attended St. Gabriel's school and later graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. He attended Coyne College in Chicago, IL. John married Annette Gentes on October 25, 1958, at St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. Together they owned and operated Powers TV for 40 years serving Prairie du Chien and surrounding areas. John was an avid Horseman. He enjoyed owning and riding horses until recently. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annette, his son, Tim (Sue), daughters, Penny Powers and Becky (Brad) Trautsch, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Clara Powers, brother-in-law John Wachter, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Jessie, brothers, Terrance and Gordon (Shirley) Powers, and a sister Margaret Wachter.

A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Gabriel's Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating, with interment in Calvary Cemetery.
