Daughter of Alexander and Janet nee MacKinnon, Charlotte was born in Rossshire, Scotland. She married Alexander Allan McKenzie on 19 June 1821 in Fodderty, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. In late 1838 Alexander and Charlotte, with their 5(five), children emigrated to the colony. Traveling as assisted immigrants, the family arrived in Port Jackson, Sydney on 2 Jan 1839 on the ship "Boyne".
