Randy D. Pierce
June 26, 1950 — Nov. 14, 2017

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Randy passed away unexpectedly while doing what he loved.
Randy was born June 26, 1950, in Houston, Missouri, to Frances (Hines) and Ray Pierce. The Pierce family moved to Walla Walla in 1955. He attended schools in College Place and Walla Walla, graduating from Wa-Hi in 1968. Randy worked for his father throughout his high school years and after graduation. When it became apparent he would be drafted into the service in 1971, he enlisted in the Navy. He was assigned to the USS Orleck as a radar/sonar technician. He was honorably discharged in 1975.
While home on leave in 1974, Randy was helping a friend coach a women's softball team. That is where he met Diana, the love of his life – he would frequently tell her and his friends the story about the first time he saw her. Randy and Diana married August 17, 1979. They were blessed with three wonderful children; Amanda, Ryan and Samantha. Oh what a life they all lived with such a silly, wonderful husband and dad! The stories told and retold at family gatherings are heartfelt reminders of how much they loved, laughed and cried throughout life with Randy. The best days of his life were the days when each of his grandchildren were born; Lilli, Lauren, Lola and Bailey were the light of his life! He felt his life was complete and he absolutely loved being a grandpa!
Randy was an accomplished contractor working across Washington state throughout his life; with the majority of his work in Walla Walla and Sequim. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor that he shared with everyone he encountered through the years.
The road was sometimes an uphill climb and at other times it was smooth sailing. No matter the circumstance Randy always saw the bright side of life and ensured everyone else was on course. He was true to his word, committed to his friends and impassioned by his family. He was a teacher, a gatherer of people, generous and a hard worker. He loved making an impact in other's lives by the work he did. He was witty, funny and sometimes annoying with his lack of seriousness in life. His serious side was tucked safely away only to be exposed in dire straits. He loved his life and let his family and friends know this often by his positive attitude and jokes. He planted seeds of joy and laughter that are definitely helping each of his family members get through this tragedy.

Randy wasn't a member of a church, though he was a believer in a God that loves His creations, a Lord that had blessed his life with gifts beyond his own wishes; a Savior that heals and walks with us in joy and sorrow. Therefore, his family has hope that we will be reunited again one day.
Randy is survived by his mother, Frances; his wife, Diana; his children and their spouses: Amanda and Alex Ewoniuk, Ryan Pierce and Benjamin Chan and Samantha Pierce; his beloved grandchildren: Lilli Craig Ewoniuk, Lauren Ewoniuk, Lola Ewoniuk and Bailey Pierce; his brother, Larry Pierce; his brothers in-law and sisters in-law: Dave and Sandi Winn, Bryan and Ann Winn, Rhonda and Tony Armejo, and his 10 nieces and nephews.
Randy's family and friends will miss his passion for life, his sense of humor and most of all, the love they shared.
