In 1904, Harold John Sheldon served on the first faculty as Bible Teacher at Maplewood Academy in Maple Plain, Minnesota. He became it's second principal in 1906, serving in that capacity until 1912.

OBITUARY:
Services for H. J. Sheldon conducted - Harold John Sheldon, 86, former pastor of the Monrovia Seventh Day Adventist Church, died Tuesday at his home, 6202 Kauffman Ave., Temple City.

The decedent had also served pastorates in El Monte, Azusa and other Southern California communities,

He is survived by his wife, Alice C. Sheldon, a daughter, Mrs Dorothy Froeschle of Madera, and three granddaughters.

Services were conducted today at the Monrovia Seventh Day Adventist Church under the direction of the Temple and La Gorge Mortuary, with Elders M. L. Axt and Robert Kitto, presiding, and interment followed at Montecito Cemetery in Loma Linda.
