Shirley M. Taylor, 80, of Defiance, passed away on January 14, 2022 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.

She was born on November 27, 1941 to Clark and Helen (Blankenship) Smith in Hurley, Virginia. On November 10, 1962 she married George H. Taylor and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2016. Shirley worked for Campbell's Soup and Fulton Tubing for several years, retiring in 1998. Shirley loved the Lord and dedicated her life to serving him. She was a member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for several years. She prepared church dinners and cleaned the church most of her life. She felt she was called to serve in any way she could. Shirley enjoyed cooking, sewing and antique shopping. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Shirley is survived by her step-sons, Larry Taylor and Jimmy (Marcia) Taylor, both of Napoleon, 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers Lawrence (Ruby) Smith and Ray (Vandetta) Smith sisters, June (Blaine) Orwig, Mildred (Bob) Hall and Faye (Ron) Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Taylor and brothers, Billy, Kermit and Charles Smith and her sister, Betty Smith.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:00am at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to help in the arrangement of services.
