Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Addie Hudson Grant. She retired from Singer Company and was a member of Bethany Church of God and Seniors Unlimited.
Surviving along with her husband are a daughter, Catherine Ellenburg and husband, Bill of Pickens; two sons, Fred Couch and wife, Betty of Pickens and Gary Couch and wife, Marlene of Liberty; five grandchildren, Kim Burgess and her husband, Michael of Pickens, Shannon Baldwin and her husband, Russell of Liberty, Scott Ellenburg of Pickens, Lindsay Couch and Matthew Couch, of Liberty; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Burgess, Chandler Baldwin and Hudson Burgess; six sisters, Bertha Townes, Dorothy Dodgens, Elizabeth Eades, Katie Grant, Lou Grant and Inez Grant, all of Pickens; four brothers, Cecil Grant and Joe Grant of Pickens, Reverend James B. Grant of Mauldin and Reverend Donald W. Grant of Salem. Mrs. Couch was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Veda Mae Townes.
Services will be Monday, September 25, 2006, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. A visitation will be Sunday, September 24, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m at the funeral home.
