In Remembrance
Visitation will be from 11:00 am-1:00 pm with funeral to follow at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, January 13,
2022 at Crestwood for William "Bill" H. Cole, Jr, 73, of Alabama City. He crossed to his eternal home on
January 11, 2022. Rev. Clay Spears and Rev. Michael Knight will officiate. Burial to follow at Crestwood
Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is directing.
Born in Fannin County, GA, Bill met his precious wife when they were 12 and 14 years of age. He was
married to Linda on June 8, 1969 and is now reunited with her in their eternal home with our Heavenly
Father. He had a servant's heart and was willing to help those in need, even if it meant he had to
struggle. Through the years he has been a member of South Gadsden Church of God and Tabor Road
Church of God. He loved coaching his boys in baseball when they were children, and loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Cole, parents William H. Sr. and Jacqueline Cole, In-laws
Oliver and Flora Mae Lancaster; Sister and Brother-in-law Mary and Terry Lancaster, Brother and Sister-
in law Larry and Geraldine Cole, Sister and Brother-in-law Ruth Ann and Jim Moore, Brother Doug Cole,
Brother-in-law Dennis Lancaster. Niece Nichelle Lancaster, and Nephew Josh Wilkins.
Those remaining to greet him again include his sons William O. (Billy) and Savannah Cole, Timothy and
Carrie Cole, and Grandchildren Olivia and Liam Cole; Brother and Sister-in-law David and Brenda Cole,
Sisters and Brothers-in-law Mamie and Johnny Armistead and Judy and Benny Higgins, Sisters-in-law and
Brothers-in-law: Glenda and Bruce Calhoun, Rhonda Lancaster, and Paul and Darcy Lancaster. Three
generations of nieces and nephews also remain to cherish his memory.
The last three weeks since his illness onset have been a roller coaster, and we thank his care team from
7 th floor GRMC (Angela, Amanda, Leanna, Rachel, Robin, Tammy, Oma, Dr. Zia, and Dr. Warren),
Amedisys Hospice (Megan and Tyler), and during the last week he spent at Shepherd's Cove, we could
not possibly be more thankful for a staff that was so loving and attentive to his comfort and needs than
these: Lori, Casey, Linda, Stacey, Amber, Jessica, Dr. Milligan, NP Shelley, Rev Spinks, and Rev Darnell.
Most of all, Teresa, his precious assistant quickly became like family and could get him to do things and
respond when we could not.
In lieu of flowers, we would kindly request that memorial gifts be made to Shepherd's Cove Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Steel, Greg Smith, Jared Lamkin, Wayne Lamkin, Jeff Wall, Scott Wall, and BJ
Spruce. Honorary pallbearers will be his host of nephews.
