Donald Elwood Richardson, 77, passed away January 10,2022, after serval days of loving care at Hendrick Hospice.

Aservice celebrating his life will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home on Saturday, January 15, at 1:00 I the afternoon. A graveside remembrance will be held immediately following at the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends on Saturday beginning at 12:30 PM until the time of service.

Don was born in Summerville, South Carolina, on April 17, 1944, while his family was there during his father's service at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Don's sharp wit was enjoyed by all who knew him. He led a full and adventuresome life that involved many different careers and travels around the globe. He was a painter of some note, and his family cherishes his works displayed in their homes.

In later years, he prided himself in being a Master Gardener and was also an excellent photographer. He especially enjoyed capturing images of birds gathered around the many feeders he and Sue faithfully tended. Don and Sue were married in 1981, lovingly sharing their lives for 36 years. She preceded him in death in March of 2017.

Don's life was greatly blessed by his friends in the Jabez Class of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Betty Williams(Robert) of Lubbock; his brother, James Richardson(Cynthia) of Reno, Nevada; his sons, Mike Dubose of Lubbock and Joel Dubose (Darlene) of Mooresville, North Carolina; his step daughters, Becca Hibbs(Scott) and Sara Voller(John) of Abilene; and 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be the members of the Jabez Sunday School class. Don's clever and unusual way of viewing life and expressing himself will be greatly missed.
