Margaret "Peggy" {nee Daerr} Martin/Pawling, 78, passed away peacefully in Chandler Hall Hospice January 13, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.

Peggy was born on New Year's Day, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, to Louis H. and Margaret Ann "Peggy" Daerr. During childhood the family (now including sister, Melodee) moved to St. Louis, MO and later Atlanta, GA where Peggy graduated from North Fulton High School. She attended Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth Texas, where she was an active member of Kappa Delta sorority. Peggy graduated in 1966 with a degree in education. She stayed in Ft. Worth where she taught, married Kent Martin and later had her son, Richard "Rick". Shortly thereafter, they moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family. She was employed by the Bristol Borough School District where she remained over 30 years until her retirement in 2004. While teaching and raising her family Peggy managed to find time to complete her master's in education from Trenton State University.

Peggy taught several grades but especially loved the 2nd grade at Snyder-Girotti Elementary. She was a wonderful teacher and more than once she was approached by a now-adult thanking her for making such a positive impact on his or her education and life. More than once she taught the child of a former student and relished that experience. In addition to traditional subjects, she brought her love of square dancing to the school. Many classes were taught the basics and some even got to showcase their efforts for their families and the entire community. Square dancing also was where she met Edward "Ed" Pawling. After several years of being dance partners, they married in 1988.

Peggy enjoyed life. In addition to dancing, she enjoyed live musical theater and was often seen singing and clapping along with the numbers. Traveling was also a favorite pastime for Peggy. She traveled with her husband and later friends throughout the US and abroad. After Ed passed away, Peggy's favorite traveling roommate on these trips became her granddaughter, Alina. Alina and her "Gran" roomed together on many trips and cruises around the world.

Peggy was a devoted grandmother who, while she "never spoiled" Alina, became Alina's babysitter, camp counselor, shopping companion, ice cream partner, and fairy godmother.

Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Pawling and her parents Louis H. and Margaret (Coates) Daerr. She is survived by her loving son, Richard "Rick" K. Martin, daughter-in-law Bethany and granddaughter Alina of Gilbertsville, PA. She is also survived by her sister, Melodee Baker (Vernon) of Springboro, OH, two nieces also of OH, Carrie Cobb (Brian), and Andrea Baker, great-nephew Garrett Cobb and great-niece, Megan Cobb, cousins, Kathy Feemster, and William and Marge Stephens of Wichita, KS. Peggy treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life. She kept in touch with many throughout the years and she was grateful for their support and kindness throughout her illness.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 4 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 20th and again from 10 until 11 a.m. on Friday, January 21st at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. A private burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio, at a later date.
