William Kendall Dawson
December 28, 1945 - January 11, 2022 (age 76)

William Kendall Dawson (Bill, Billy, Daddy and Grandpa) was 76 years young. He was born December 28, 1945, in Milford, Utah. He lived in Cedar City, Utah, until his passing on January 11, 2022.

Bill was born in Milford, Utah to William Dawson and Lorelei Stoddard. His father was an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad and spent his early years living in a train car as that was how the railroad housed families at the time. He has so many wonderful stories of his time in Milford where he found lifelong friends. Later his family moved to Salt Lake City, but he would catch the train to Milford every chance he got. He gave up things such as track and wrestling as he needed to work to help support his family. He graduated from Highland High School and was attending Utah State University when he decided to join the Navy rather than being drafted. He spent four years in the Navy.

Bill loved being a Navy Veteran and loved his country. After returning from his service in Vietnam, Bill met the love of his life of 50 years, while attending Snow College. They then moved to Cedar City, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Botany and Zoology from Southern Utah State College. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved teaching his daughters how to tie a fishhook and shoot a gun. Bill was taking his daughters bow hunting with him when they were 4 years old, knowing he would probably not get a deer but was more concerned with teaching them how to walk quietly and making them take him back to the truck. Bill was a kind man that loved talking to everyone. He loved meeting new people and sharing stories. Bill would take the shirt off his own back to help another person. More than anything, he cherished his family. He always put them first and loved them more than he loved himself. It was always his greatest joy everyday hearing about his daughter's days and loved to watch his grandkids grow and succeed. He loved them all so very much. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sisters, 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren.
