He was born on October 9, 1951 to the late Donald and Gennabee (Stiltner) Hill in Grundy, Virginia. Larry proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. On December 21, 1974 he married Lois (Eis) Hill, who survives.
Larry was a faithful member of Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren. He worked for several years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement. He was a Charter Captain in Lake Erie and Lake Michigan and loved deep sea fishing. Larry was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lois Hill of Defiance, his daughter, Melissa (Tom) Haver of Defiance, three grandchildren; Madison, Nicholas and Austin, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Todd Clemens officiating. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will follow the service at Ayersville Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by VFW #3360.
