Charles Harper Carter Sr., 92, of Crawfordville, went to his heavenly home on January 13, 2022, with his family beside him reading the bible. He was a life-long resident of Crawfordville, born February 14, 1929 to his parents Calvin & Verdell Carter. He retired from the State of Florida as Personnel Manager with Department of Transportation. Harper and the love of his life Mary Lou retired together and bought a camper and they traveled all over the United States. Their favorite place to go was the Smokey Mountains, Maggie Valley, North Carolina. He loved to throw cast nets for mullet and his favorite spot was Skipper Bay. Harper enjoyed gardening where he planted peas, corn and tomatoes. He loved to can and put up fresh vegetables. He loved the Lord Jesus and loved studying the bible.
Survivors include his children Charlie Carter and wife Schlenia & Hope Salas and husband Bookie, step children Scott Gaby and wife Julie, Paula Johnson & husband John & Kevin Gaby and wife Kerry, 4 grandchildren Crystal Wood and husband Marshall, Steven Carter and wife Josi, Hailey Salas & Tyler Salas, 4 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife of 38 years Mary Lou Carter and his parents Calvin & Verdell Carter.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 16, 2022, 3:00-5:00 pm at Family Funeral Home in Harvey Young Chapel. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 17, 2022, 11:00 am at Family Funeral Home in Harvey Young Chapel. Interment will follow at Arran Cemetery.
