Louise Cochran Schalk (formerly Louise Schneider) of Reston, Virginia died May 2, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Louis W. Schalk, Jr. and daughter of the late Samuel W. Cochran and Catherine L. Dreyer. Mrs. Schalk was born October 6, 1932, in Washington, DC. She was a prominent figure in the travel industry in the Washington, DC area for many years, promoting tourism to the nation's capital and representing various businesses and hotels in DC, including Tourmobile Sightseeing, Gold Line/Gray Line, Benihana, Bullets basketball, Capitals hockey, and the Mayflower, Shoreham, and Doubletree hotels. Mrs. Schalk was also the owner of Schalk International. Mrs. Schalk was well respected in the travel industry both nationally and internationally and was the recipient of the Capital Ambassador Award for her tireless work in supporting DC tourism. Mrs. Schalk was predeceased by her son Andrew Datlow and is survived by her children Sarah (Sallie) Rupp (Robert), Philip Datlow (Milanna) and Shoshana Datlow, her grandchildren Sarah Rupp, Jacqueline Rupp, Katherine Datlow, Victoria Datlow and Elizabeth Datlow, her sisters Ellen Moran and Alice Hutcheson and her brother William Cochran. Funeral Service at All Souls Episcopal Church, Washington, Saturday October 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to All Souls Episcopal Church or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
