Mary was born in Houston, Tx at St. Joseph Hospital on December 14, 1949. Mary grew up with a love and passion for learning. She graduated from John H. Reagan High school class of 68' with honors. She continued her education at the University of Houston and received a Bachelors degree of Arts with honors. She was a member of the National Honor Society every year and also a Daughter of the Republic of Texas. She attended the University of Houston with her best friends, Pam, and Joyce. Some of Mary's fondest memories came from all the fun times at the Cougar Den where Barbra would come over frequently to play Spades, where they had fun and enjoyed each others company. Mary enjoyed college life so much that she didn't have to attend class but still made straight A's. She had such a passion and memory for history, she would love to chat about the past and present events, even till her last day.

Upon graduation she worked for South Western Bell for many years with her friend Kay until her early retirement. After retirement, she married the love of her life, Jim Jenkins and moved to the Fort Davis Mountains where they opened a motel called Stone Village. She enjoyed living with a beautiful view of the Davis mountains in her backyard and the country side view of nature in the front with all the hummingbirds and too many feeders to count. In the summer of 2016 Mary moved back to Houston and upon her return she reconnected with her friend Kay where they embraced the joys of life while enjoying cocktails and other bonding opportunities that strengthened their friendship throughout the years.

Mary is survived by her brother, Alfred Martinez and wife Susan, niece and nephews Gabriel, Amanda, Cristina Bennett and husband Brandon. Also several great nieces and nephews, Isabel, Soyel, Maddie, Evelynn, Ben, Elijah as well as extended family and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Bene and Lupe Martinez.

Mary's family wishes to thank the Heights of Tomball and Tomball Regional Hospital for the exceptional and compassionate care she received.
