Richard J. Snyder, 74, passed away of natural causes on Sunday January 9th, 2022 at Baptist Health Nursing and rehabilitation in Scotia.

Richard was born in Amsterdam NY to the late Richard G. Snyder and Barbara Bleau Snyder.

He graduated from Wilbur Lynch High School. Richard's first job was working for the town of Amsterdam, and from there he worked for the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance for 39 years until his retirement in 2006.

In addition to his parents, Richard was also predeceased by his father in-law John Mudrey and mother in-law Mary Lou Mudrey Sisto, step father in-law Frank Sisto, brother Paul T. Snyder, sisters in-law Joan Snyder and Susan Mudrey, and brother in-law Joseph Mudrey.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Anne Mudrey Snyder of Rotterdam, his daughters Danielle Gill (Kevin) of Depew, Jessica Nicklaw (Ryan) of Utica, his brother Charles (Christine) Snyder of Scotia, brother in-law Larry Mudrey of Massachusetts, sisters in-law Barbara Panaro Snyder of East Islip NY and Fran (Jack) Gilson of Schenectady, his granddaughter Olivia Nicklaw of Utica, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and four great nieces, and one great nephew.

Richard was a member of Amsterdam and Schenectady Muni Golf clubs, many Amsterdam bowling leagues, and Sportsman's Majors and Vitallo Classic bowling leagues in Schenectady. He also loved to meet his friends for Friday night poker games.

Richard was known for his great sense of humor, larger than life personality, and amazing cooking skills. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Atlantic City, and Vegas.

But most importantly, he lived his life for his family and friends, and that love that he had will continue to live on forever.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, 6-8 pm .

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, 9:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Paul T. Snyder Foundation, 67 Craig Road, Islip Terrace, NY 11752 and St. Jude.org.
