Vicki Herberg Barker, age 76, of Weir, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Vicki was born in Brady, Texas on July 6, 1945.
She met her childhood sweetheart, Ernest David Barker, in Kindergarten. They graduated from Brady High School in May of 1963, and attended SWT College in San Marcos, Texas graduating in 1967.
Vicki graduated with a major in Education and minor in Art.
Vicki married David on May 28, 1966 starting a life teaching and having two children in Austin. They then moved to Georgetown where they bought a farm in Weir, Texas in 1984, fulfilling Vicki's lifelong dream of having a horse farm.
Vicki was a schoolteacher for about 33 years in Austin and Georgetown ISDs. She taught Math for many years. Vicki was also an active 4-H leader instructing her daughter and many other children about starting, training, and showing their horses. Vicki also trained and showed her reining horses for many years.
Vicki is survived by her husband David Barker, daughter, Katrina Barker, son, Jarret Barker, daughter-in-law Ashley Barker, and three grandchildren Wyatt, Darby, and Paisley Barker.
Vicki's family would like to thank the staff at Georgetown's Autumn Leaves and The Reserve memory care facility. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Nature Conservancy.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, January 21, 2022, at The Gabriel's Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. The graveside services will be held on January 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Weir, TX Cemetery.
