Anita Marie Liebergesell Sharp was born January 26, 1957, daughter of Wesley Leroy Liebergesell and Frances Eugenia Sargent Liebergesell in Elmhurst, Illinois. She passed from this earth on January 11, 2022.
Anita grew up in Berkeley, Illinois with her older brother Michael until a brutal winter convinced the family to move to her mother's home town of Marietta, Georgia when she was eleven. Anita graduated from Osborne High School in 1975 and Marietta/Cobb Area Vocational Technical School.
She and Gerry Morgan Davis were wed in 1977 and became the devoted mother of Tim and Karen. During their marriage Anita worked and raised her family in several towns in North Georgia. Upon returning to Marietta, she worked in the mortgage department of Bank South.
New Years Eve 1990 Harry Sharp opened a door for her, and she walked into his heart. They met as members of the Mount Bethel UMC choir and were wed eleven months later. Anita was an active singer in several church choirs, community chorus, and small ensembles.
The couple moved to Harry's hometown of Sikeston, Missouri in 1993 where Anita worked for First National Bank (Montgomery Bank). She was also in charge of the 90 volunteers and docents at the Sikeston Depot Museum. Anita took over the Cradle Roll from her mother-in-law who had started it for their church. She also volunteered for a number of organizations.
Their first exchange student, Anna Petrovna Logvinova, came into their lives in 1994 and became their "daughter."
Anita and her husband loved to travel and together they have explored all 50 states, most provinces of Canada, and eighty-three countries. She has made lasting friends around the world. The couple also participated in mission trips to Russia and Costa Rica.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Garwood Sharp, III of Naples, Florida; her children Timothy Morgan Davis (Carrie) of Buford, Georgia and Karen Lynn Davis Porter (Tom White) of Stuart, Florida; her step-son Harry "Woody" Sharp (Angela) of Sikeston, Missouri, her "daughter" Anna "Anya" Logvinova of Zhostovo, Russia; grandchildren Olivia Marie and Morgan Lee Davis of Buford, Georgia, Sarah Sharp Brashers (Shannon) of Sikeston, Missouri, Eric Mitchell Sharp (Brittanie) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Crystal Rose Sharp of Glasgow, Scotland; great-grandchildren Zoey Inez and Lindzay Marie Barker of Sikeston, Missouri.
Anita was of the United Methodist faith and a member of Sikeston First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, at First United Methodist Church, Sikeston, Missouri. The service will be in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church Thursday morning, January 20 at 11:00.
