Audrey Lee Martin (Toby), passed on Monday, January 10, 2022. Graveside services will be conducted by Mike Elkins on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in Barnhart Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.

Toby was born January 13, 1945 to Aubrey and Estelle Cox in Ballinger, Texas. Toby grew up in Barnhart and graduated from Barnhart High School. She attended Sul Ross State University. Toby worked for KGKL Radio Station for several years.

On June 24, 1977 she started her career with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). On August 1, 1985, she promoted to Austin Headquarters Supervisor Police Communications Facility (SPCF). In 1987 she transferred to Abilene, TX in the same position of Communication Supervisor. On January 1, 1994, she promoted to Regional Supervisor and transferred to Midland and was the second female to gain the title of that position at that time. She retired from the DPS on August 31, 2003.

She then returned home to Barnhart in retirement and worked on refurbishing her old home with her faithful furry friend Sweeny. Toby was known for her cooking – more specifically hot rolls and peanut patties. She was also known for expressing her opinion openly and honestly.

Toby was proceeded in death by her parents and sisters Shirley Paine, Joyce Everett and Gail Cox.

Toby is survived by brother-in-law Billy Paine of Center Point, daughter Michell Martin and son Mitchell Martin both of Barnhart along with several nieces & nephews.

Honorary pallbearers include Buck Owens, Steve Elkins and Mike Elkins. Pallbearers are Lee Behrens, David Behrens, Jimmy Baker, Pete Barrera, Rusty Owens, Bryan Bennie and Dennis Webb. I

n lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial donation to Barnhart United Methodist Church (PO Box 12, Barnhart, TX 76930), Barnhart Fire Department (PO Box 166, Barnhart, TX 76930) or a favorite charity of your choice.
