DEATHS
At the residence of his brother, Mr James Black, Ramsay, on the 10th inst., Mr Walter Black, aged 78 years. Funeral Friday at one o'clock p.m.

1885, Friday February 13, The Almonte Gazette page 3
An Early Settler Gone. -- About 63 years ago -- in 1821 -- there came to the township of Ramsay the family of Mr James Black, late deputy-reeve of the township, and amongst them was a brother of Mr Black's named Walter, who was unfortunately deaf and dumb, and who has ever since continued to live with his brother on the farm on which he died on Tuesday last. A week of two ago the deceased paid a visit to another brother in Admaston, and whilst there he dropped down in a fit, from which, however he seemed to recover, had returned home apparently in good health. On Tuesday evening he brought into the house a couple of armfuls of wood, and then went out to deed some of the animals. Not returning after a little time, he was sought for, and was found lying dead in a shed, having died (as supposed) from heart disease. The deceased was 78 years of age at his death, and had been a resident nearly sixty years in the same place. His funeral takes place today (Friday) at one o'clock.
