From her son Leo Ward:

My Mom just passed away Monday evening. Born July 19th 1927 she was 94. She was a great Mom. My mother grew up during the depression she was the youngest of seven and the only girl. She played basketball for St. Rose and was elected to their Hall of Fame. My mom was an army nurse in the Korean War stationed in Japan then later on became an RN Nurse at Jersey Shore Hospital for 27 years while raising five of her own children. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a devoted Catholic. My mom loved to golf and did so competitively till 90 years old
The last 15 years We would follow the best high school girls basketball teams especially her beloved St.Rose and my Manasquan. She would keep score and people who sat near would ask her how many points did a certain girl score. Mom always had the answer. She loved going to the games.
She always told me " how long can anyone live for?"
I'm ready to go now. (She was religious and always at peace with God). She told me multiple times she never wanted to lose her independence and she never did. She was driving her car till near her 94th birthday and still reluctant to use a walker. But in the end how long can anyone really live for? And if you are lucky enough to survive what is your quality of life? My Mom went out on her own terms. My Mom did it her way.
