Nancy Mahan Burns, 81, of Graysville, formerly of West Finley, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in her home, with her loving family by her side.

She was born March 11, 1940, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Kenneth and Felicia Irey Mahan.

Nancy lived in West Finley until 1959 when she married Carl "Butch" Burns March 29, and then moved to Graysville to start her life with him. She graduated from West Alexander High School in 1958, where she held the title of May Queen and was the head majorette. Nancy was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge. She was the co-owner of Burns Greenhouse and Nursery for 37 years.

Nancy and her family looked forward to football season, especially college football because everyone in the family went to a different college and you never knew what rivalry game was going to be on; they had many heated discussions during the games. She enjoyed tole painting, sewing, knitting, canning, crocheting, cooking and baking, and making her own butter. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the most to her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Carl (Nancy) Burns Jr. of Rogersville, Tracy (Mark) Burns-Suter of Moon Township and Bradley (Jennifer) Burns of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Clay) Durkin of Sykesville, Md., Rachel (Matthew) Raber of Mapletown, Sarah (Matt) Obrad of Carmichaels, Mary Burns of Waynesburg, Mark Jr. and Mason Suter of Moon Township, Alexander (Shannon) Burns of Waynesburg and Nicolas Burns of Waynesburg; six great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ben Durkin, Adaline Raber, Hunter, Hayden and Gunner Obrad. She is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Mahan Jr. of Aliquippa.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Pace.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 15, in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359, telephone 724-499-5181, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 16, with Pastor Jim Jarvis officiating.
