Russell Orlando Carroll Cooper, 88, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake after a short stay. Born in Royal Oak, Wicomico County, MD, he was the son of the late Fred C. & Lillian (Hurley) Cooper.

"Russ" graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He worked for Sunshine Laundry and later retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration with 30 years of service. He was a life member of VFW Post 194, Ducks Unlimited, North Carolina Bear Association and numerous others..

"Russ" was an avid outdoorsman who loved pretty sunsets, his flag, eagles and Native American Indians. Spring could find him trout fishing in Virginia and North Carolina and in fall, bear hunting in North Carolina, as well as hunting locally.

"Russ" was predeceased by an infant son in 1960. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Marshall Cooper; daughter, Debra Jean Reddish (Steve); son, Wayne Russell Cooper (Stacy); six grandchildren: Russell "Rusty" Reddish (Stacie), Katie Reddish Vinroot (Pete), Allison Reddish Grinups (Paul), Kristie Cooper and fiancée, Bryan Thomas, Emily Cooper Curtis (Ryan) and Suzy Cooper and friend, Mitch Cook; and four adored great-grandchildren: Alexis Reddish, Layla Curtis, Lee Vinroot and Ethan Curtis.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. J. Harvey Dixon will officiate. Interment with military honors will be held at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Side Fire Dept in Bivalve or VFW Post 194, E. William St., Salisbury.
