Judy Ann Miller, 75, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Judy was born in Bonifay, FL, on March 5, 1946, to Lloyd and Louise Birge.

Judy attended Pensacola High School and thereafter married her high school sweetheart, Ed Miller, on August 17, 1963. After high school, she worked at Kmart, Killingsworth Pest Control, and Monsanto, but her passion for kids led her to work for the Escambia County School District. Over her career, Judy served in many roles at Pine Meadow, Jim Allen, Hallmark, and Ensley Elementary, eventually retiring in 2007. She also became a nationally certified gymnastics judge.

Judy was a shining light in numerous community and church activities. As an active member of Heritage Baptist Church for over 43 years, she led as a Sunday School teacher, mission team member, and Vacation Bible School volunteer. Meanwhile, she managed and organized the Ensley Elementary Dad's Club and Fatherhood Initiative. Her adoration for the University of Florida and the beach led her to serve on boards for both the Northwest Florida Gator Club and Baywatch Condominiums for many years.

Judy was the backbone to her family, and they meant the world to her. There is nothing she enjoyed more than being surrounded and spending quality time with them. Her overflowing love drove her to be the best cheerleader at all her kids', grandkids', and great grandkids' events.

Judy's happy place was the beach, and her dream of owning a beach house came true in 2007. She could be found collecting seashells at sunrise or looking over the ocean at sunset. Her favorite summer activities included dolphin-spotting on her jet ski, roasting smores by the bonfire, and visiting with her neighbors.

Judy loved Jesus and was saved in 1979, followed by baptism. During her kidney transplant process, she proudly shared with many individuals the goodness of God and His miracle of providing a donor with the perfect kidney at the perfect time. Judy was a light for Jesus in the way she lived her life, cared for others, and truly made a difference in this world.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Birge; stepmother, Sybil Folsom; brother, Jimmy Birge; and beloved son, Ed Miller, Jr.

Judy is survived by her mother, Louise Clay (Jim); devoted and caring husband, Ed Miller, Sr.; sister, Jeanne Majors; daughter, Melissa Schubeck (Darin); daughter-in-law, Dina Johnson (Bobby); nephew, Jason Majors (Ashley); grandchildren, Heather Edgar (Chas), Sean Miller (Olivia), Brianna Smith (Dylan), Justin Schubeck and girlfriend Isabel Holland; great grandchildren, Charles Edgar, Teagan Miller, Payton Miller, Hudson Edgar; and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers will be Darin Schubeck, Jason Majors, Chas Edgar, Sean Miller, Dylan Smith, and Justin Schubeck.

Judy's family would like to thank Heritage Baptist Church, Pensacola Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, Dr. Stallings, Dr. Navas, Dr. Schwartz, along with her nurses and doctors at West Florida Hospital and UF Health Shands Hospital. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to share their condolences monetarily have been asked to donate in Judy's honor to the UF Health Shands Kidney Transplant Program.
