Ted Allen Webb, 82, passed away on January 11, 2022.
He was born in Edgecombe County to Newett Webb and Clarice Watkins Webb.
Graveside service will be Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Ted was a Retired Sergeant of the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office. Sgt. Webb began his service career with the North Carolina National Guard in 1957 where he served honorably until 1964. He began his law enforcement career with the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office in 1972 under Sheriff Tom Bardin, Sr., Ret. (1948-1974) Sgt. Webb remained a Deputy Sheriff when Sheriff Phil Ellis, Ret. (1974-1996) took office in 1974. He resigned in 1976 to work in the private sector but remained in a part-time status with the Sheriff's Office. He returned to full-time duty in 1982 and remained until his retirement in 2004. Sgt. Webb once again worked in a part-time status since his retirement as a Court Bailiff under Sheriff James L. Knight, Ret. (1997-2017) and Sheriff Cleveland Atkinson, Jr. (2017-Present) until early 2021 as a reserve deputy.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye Lewis Webb; daughter, Tami Webb; sons, Van Allen Webb (Kathy Bottoms), Ted A. Webb Jr., and Terry Calvin Webb (Estela); grandsons, Michael Webb, Eric Webb, T.J. Pittman, and Jamie Pittman (Morgan); 2 great-grandchildren, Cole Allen Pittman, and Kylie Pittman; and brothers, Justin Webb (Barbara) and Donnie Webb (Carol).
Visitation will be Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Carlisle Funeral Home.
