by Ertel Funeral Home, 42 N Market St, Cortez, CO 81321:

Richard James Sanders was born September 29, 1939 in Paradox, Colorado, the son of Benjamin Franklin Sanders and Lupita Sophia (Candelaria) Sanders.
He passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, Colorado.
Surviving Richard are his loving spouse Ellen Sanders of Cortez, Colorado; his children Robert Venegas of Martinez, Georgia; Rita Higgins of Cortez, Colorado; Richard Sanders of Dolores, Colorado; and Tricia Heiney of Cortez, Colorado; 12 Grandchildren; 31 Great-Grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Gene Dennis Sanders and Roy Franklin Sanders.
