Funeral services for Joyce Rae Reed will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Willie Welch and Reverend Emitte Belgard officiating. Burial will be in Big Island Baptist Church Cemetery, Deville.
The family requests that visitation be observed at funeral home Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Shelton Ray Reed, Hunter Rollins, Garrett Hoffpauir, Kenny Smith, Jamie Thompson, and Claudie "Tiger" Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Reed, Jr., Albert Rayner, Jerry McDaniels, and Gavin Hoffpauir.
Mrs. Reed, 77, of Deville, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at her home.
Mrs. Reed enjoyed singing for 18 years with the Bluegrass Gospel Messengers, ministering at nursing homes, prisons, churches, and festivals. Joyce taught Sunday school class and vacation Bible school. She loved traveling in the mountains, flowers especially roses, gardening and watching birds. Joyce basically loved and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She touched the hearts of many and her memory will be cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert "Jack" and Beatrice Miller Smith, and brothers, infant brother J.C. Smith, Claudie Smith, and Sammy Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Shelton Reed; sons, Robert Edward Reed (Loretta), and David Allen "Tater" Reed (Robyn); daughters, Angela Issman (Matt), and Kimberly Hoffpauir (Garrett); sisters, Carleen Gauthier (Glenn), and Linda Beaubouef (Claude); 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
