ANNA ELIZABETH (FOREMAN) BITNER, 91, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of 4882 Salem Church Road, Waynesboro, died at 9:33 p m Sunday, Dec 9, 2007, in the nursing home . She had been in failing health for the past year.
Born Nov 24, 1916, in Antrim Township, she was the daughter of the late Ralph J and Anna May "Annie" Foreman.
Mrs. Bitner was a lifelong resident of Antrim and Washington Townships.
She and her husband of 72 years, Arthur Robert Bitner Sr, were married Aug 12, 1935, in Hagerstown. They moved to Salem Church Road in 1951. Mrs. Bitner entered the nursing home Oct 26, 2007.
Mrs. Bitner attended Greencastle High School..
She worked at Stanley Co of Chambersburg, Wayne Sportswear and Waynesboro Knitting Mill and was a cook in the cafeteria of Waynesboro School District. She also had been an Avon representative in the Waynesboro area. She and her husband also owned and operated a farm.
Mrs. Bitner was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle.
She enjoyed working, cooking, gardening, planting flowers and feeding stray cats.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Dorothy E Boswell of
Waynesboro and Dr. Betty L. Bitner of Chambersburg, one son, John E Bitner of McConnellsburg, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Arthur R Bitner Jr,
one grandson, Michael E. Boswell, and two brothers, Robert J Foreman and Eldridge Foreman.
Services will be held at 2 30 p m Wednesday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home,
Waynesboro, with Pastor Wilbur F. Besecker officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions mav be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, Pa 17268, or to the donor's choice of chanties.
