Thomas (Tom) Terrence Turner Sr. passed away on January 6, 2022, was born in New Orleans, LA on Oct 29, 1939, to Mildred Spindel and Sylvester Turner.

Raised in New Orleans where he resided from 1939 till 1960 when he moved to the Westbank of New Orleans and lived there for 60 years with his loving wife Betty Turner.

Tom was a Supervisor in the Engineering Department of Avondale Shipyards for 41 years. He was also Supervisor of Interlinguistic affairs inspecting and writing U.S. Naval Defense Communications.

What was most important to Tom was his family. He spent his Saturday's building the family home in 1972 and later single handedly built 3 more homes for his family to spend time together.

Most Saturdays were spent on the water in Bay St. Louis, MS, with family picnics and seafood boils and just enjoying life.

Sundays were spent going to church, family dinner and frequent outings with his children and grandchildren and wife.

Like his wife, Tom had an artistic side. Together they enjoyed making Mardi Gras costumes for the family, re-upholstering furniture and painting. Tom molded and painted a large, beautiful collection of lead soldiers and figurines.

Tom gained his heavenly wings peacefully at his daughter's home surrounded by love and light. Our lives will never be the same without you but, we know you are finally at peace with your adoring wife, your Heavenly Father and all of the family members above.

Thomas is survived by his adoring daughter Susan Turner and son Thomas Turner Jr. His sister, Joe Anne Jones; brother, Patrick Turner and Sylvester Turner; his grandchildren, Taylor Turner and Ashton Ball; his nephews, Patrick Turner, Syl Turner, Mike Turner, Ken Jones, Bobby Lackey, Steve Lackey, Barry Gentry and nieces, Cindy Gentry Shumpert, Kelly Turner Rennier, Cathy Turner Smith, Mandy Jones Limbert, Stacy Turner Bankston, Nicole Lackey and many great nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Betty Lackey Turner; his parents, Sylvester Turner and Mildred Spindel Turner; and his beautiful loving grandson, Thomas Ryan Turner.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 9AM until 11AM.
