John Potter, 71, of Lyons, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on February 27, 1950, he was the son of Clifton "Cliff" and Audrey (nee Hewitt) Potter. His early life was spent in the Burlington and Lake Geneva areas, and he graduated from Burlington High School. On July 4, 1981 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lyons, he was united in marriage to Linda L. Jahns. Following marriage, they made Lyons their home where they raised their family. Linda preceded him in death on January 2, 2022.

John worked for Lavelle Industries for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lyons. He enjoyed wood working, helping his wife with crafts, Thursday night men's bowling league, pitching horseshoes, was an avid NASCAR and Packer fan and in his younger days worked the pit crew with family at Wilmot and Lake Geneva Raceways.

John is survived by children; Gena (Dave) Quaid, Geri (David) Henningfield, Gayle (Richard) Hoege, Glenda Robers, and the dogs Jasper, Piper, Tank, and Dottie,
grandchildren; Kalena and Quintin Quaid, Gracelyn, Olivia, Emma, and Sarah Henningfield, Hannah (Kyle) Lundberg, C1C Josiah, Airman Isaiah and Jedidiah Hoege. He is further survived by his siblings; Patty (Mickey) Fowler, Susie Sheppard, Phil Potter, Gordy Potter, Bonnie Schmidt, Julie Olson, Larry (Tina) Potter, Mark (Jill) Potter, Kenny Potter, siblings-in-law; Sonny Fowler, Charlotte Potter, Diane "Midge" Jahns, Donna (John) Hopkins, Ronald (Debby) Jahns, John (Donna) Jahns, Chris (Jerry) Kleopfer and Dale (Alta) Jahns, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents, Cliff and Audrey (nee Hewitt) Potter, sister Lois Fowler, and brothers Howard Potter and August "Augie" Potter, siblings-in-law, Duaine Schmidt, Duane Olson, Kenneth Jahns, Barbara (Billy) Grisham, parents-in-law, Virgil and Caroline (nee Baker) Jahns.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Advocate Christ Medical Center for their care and compassion during this time.

A visitation for John and Linda will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4 until 7pm at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday January 29, 2022 at the funeral home from 9am until service at 10am. Burial will follow the service at Old Quaker Cemetery in Lyons.
