Catherine Ann Cox (Age 59)
On Saturday, January 1, 2022, of Gaithersburg, MD. Beloved daughter of T. Chandler and Jane J. Cox; sister of Barbara C. Quackenbos and her husband, David; aunt of David C. Quackenbos (wife Elise) and Matthew J. Quackenbos; great-aunt of David Thomas Quackenbos and Savannah Jane Quackenbos. Also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cathy was a graduate of The University of Richmond (BS, Business Administration) and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity). Upon completion of her education, she served for two years as Assistant to the
Missions Administrator, Thailand Baptist Mission, Bangkok, Thailand.
She worked for several firms in the travel business prior to becoming a Certified Public Accountant. She participated in audits of several government entities as an employee of Ernst & Young. She joined the Federal Government and worked in financial management policy at the National Institutes of Health.
Regardless of what Cathy did for a living, she cultivated meaningful relationships with those around her. She was known for her bright smile and positive attitude. She was an active member of Montrose Baptist Church for many years, and was involved in the Women's Ministry where she regularly provided food at a women's shelter. In addition to her work at Montrose, she contributed her talents to several non-profit organizations.
Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. A celebration of Cathy's life will be held later in the spring.
