He was educated in Sumter County Schools. He worked in Sumter County where he later retired from Shaw Components. After retirement he later worked at Sumter County Waste Management where he enjoyed small conversations with the customers. Sidney was known for his bright smile and engaging in family events where he enjoyed being amongst his children and grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving children: Sidney (Calandra) Carter Jr., Melinda (Kenneth) Hudson, Katrina (Clarence) Carter, Rebecca Ann Butler, and John Westley (Janie) Toney; grandchildren: Annika Carter, Alexis Carter, LaVonya Ormond, LaVondre' Ormond, Dysheed Carter Dytierra Carter, Keiven Butler, Kendra Simmons, Quinten Hudson, Shameika Hudson, Rashard Dennis; great grandchildren: Kaven Moore, Jaylen Moore, Mariah Moore, Messiah Moore, Carmelo Pack, Sydni Pack, Key'Nyreia Butler, Shamar China, Jada Simmons, Brooklyn Simmons. Mia Richardson, Emery Richardson, Jace Richardson; Shirley Durant (a loving sister of whom he admired). Mable Floyd (a special niece of whom he cherished also as a loving sister). James Carter "Shortie" (a beloved brother of whom he spent most of his life with joyfully); five special nieces, Delores Prince, Cynthia McCants, Marchelle Jones, Tamara Durant, and a grandniece, Kema Durant of which he adored. He also cherished "The Carter Boys" Kenny Carter, Tony Carter, Bruce Carter, Wendell Carter and his beloved niece Jan Carter.
In closing, throughout the many years he carried a genuine love for his extended Friendship Family. We will all miss Mr. Sidney Carter; for he was a vibrant soul who was family oriented ,and lived a fulfilling life.
