Funeral services for David E. Gilbert, 70, of Delhi, LA will be held at Newton Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 2:00PM with Rev. Johnny Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held at Newton Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 1:00 PM until time of services.
Burial will be in the Newton Community Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
David was a beloved husband and a loving father. He loved spending time with his family. He was proud of his children and even more so of his grandchildren. He loved playing golf with his boys, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
His wife Sandra Gilbert was his best friend and was rarely seen without her. He had a great sense of humor and was a man of integrity. David Gilbert will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Freeman Henry Gilbert and Enid Myrtle Perry Gilbert and a brother Clayborn Gilbert.
David is survived by his loving wife Sandra Hosea Gilbert and two sons Michael and William (Erin) Gilbert all of Delhi.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dykota "Kody" Gilbert (Mikell),Maria Kathryne Mann (Cody), Emma Grace Gilbert, Molly Elizabeth Gilbert, Sam Vining, Averie Vining and Katie Vining; two great grandchildren Jaeleigh Gilbert and Parker Joseph Mann; four siblings Owen Gilbert of Shreveport, LA, George Gilbert of El Dorado, AR, Ruth Arnold of Clinton, MS and Inez Jinks of Delhi, LA along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Howington, Mitchell McClure, Jeremy Bartlett, Mike Johnson, Ricky Ellis and Jerry Green.
Honorary Pallbearers are J. T. Simmons and Tyler Miller.
