James Hart Smyth, Jr., 54, of Darlington, MD, died on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD.
James was born to his mother, Caroline (Calvin) Smyth and his late father, James Hart Smyth, Sr. in Jersey City, NJ. He was married to Jessica Evans-Smyth.

James moved to the area in 2018 from Lewes, De. He worked for many years in retail sales and enjoyed breeding reptiles in his spare time. He had a great love for all animals, furry or scaly. James was an independent, soft spoken, caring, strong and loyal man. He was always ready to have fun or share a cup of strong coffee, especially with his children. His family will miss his fun loving and compassionate personality.

In addition to his wife and mother, James is survived by two sons, Zachary and Matthew Smyth, both of Ellendale, DE, one sister and two brothers; Brittany (James, Jr.) Bracht, Keith and Bryan Smyth all of Tafton, PA. He is also survived by his step-father, Donald Carter, of Tafton, PA. Six nephews, five nieces, a host of extended family and a special friend, Lisa Smyth will miss him dearly.
