Jerry was born on October 15, 1938, in Monroe, Iowa, the son of Joe and Ora Clark. Jerry served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1959, stationed in Hong Kong. On November 23, 1960, Jerry married Diana M. Millard at the Garwin Christian Church.
Jerry worked for Dunham-Bush as a Production Foreman and Marshalltown Instruments as a Manufacturing Engineer. He was a member of the Tama/Toledo Country Club and the Tama American Legion. Jerry enjoyed golfing, dancing, watching westerns and traveling with Diana and his sisters, Vivian and Bonnie, to Florida. He also took his younger grandchildren on trips to St Louis, Chicago, and Disney to name a few. Above all else, Jerry was a "family man" and cherished his time with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. His love for Diana continued to shine through to the end where he always wanted to help her, even though it was he who needed assistance.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diana; children, Lisa (Rob) Behnke of West Liberty and Lori (Jack) Stansberry of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Chelsea Clark of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dallas (Katie) Donovan of Ankeny, Jeri (Quintin) Striker of Wheatfield, Indiana, Sharissa (Connor Johnson) Stansberry of Ankeny, Preston Clark of West Liberty, Summer (Henry) Lai of Melbourne, Josh Stansberry of Waukee, and Jim Stansberry of Marshalltown; great-grandchildren, Ty Clark and Ila and Vada Lai; siblings, Vivian Tompkins, Bonnie Davis, Marlene (Johnny) Sears, and Darlene (Dennis) Coleman; and sister-in-law, Sharon Clark.
He also had very special friends who he considered part of the family, Tanya "Tuna" Defrance, Judy Stansberry, Jim Pfantz, and his golf partners, Oscar Johnson and Gordon "Gordie" Garske.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ora; brothers, Bob Clark, Phillip Clark, and Donnie (Zona) Clark; father-in-law, Keith "Gramps" (Wanda) Millard; mother-in-law, Mary Lois Ziegler; and brothers-in-law, Dale Davis, Jack Tompkins, and Glen Rubenbauer
