Robert Allen Owens, age 51, of Hilham passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was born November 30, 1970, in New Castle, Indiana he was the son of Sheila Sidwell and the late Roger Sidwell.

Robert was a construction superintendent for over 25 years, having worked on many different job sites from New Mexico to Florida to Rhode Island. He was a goof-ball by nature and loved to aggravate people, especially those he loved. He was very proud of all his children, including those he unofficially adopted into his family over the years. He was a hard-working, honorable man, always providing for his family, and he strove to instill those same values in his children. Robert served his country by enlisting in the United States Army in August 1989. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

Family left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 28 years: Rebecca Owens of the Timothy Community; children: Jonathan (Tristen) Owens of Rickman, and Mackenzie Owens, Zander Owens, and Logan Owens - all of the Timothy Community; grandson: John Thomas Owens; his mother: Sheila Sidwell of Celina; brothers: Mike (Melissa) Owens of Bloomington Springs and Bruce (Amanda) Owens of Hilham; sisters: Rachel Smith of the Timothy Community and Annette Leisure of Dayton, Ohio; a brother-in-law: Tommy Smith of Allons; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, close family friends, and work colleagues.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by the man he considered his second father: John Thomas "J.T." Smith and mother-in law: Mildred Smith; and his grandparents: Hyacinth and Lloyd Kern.

Funeral Services were conducted Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Masters officiating. The family honored Robert's wishes for cremation after the services with a private burial in Good Hope Cemetery at a later date.
