William Virgil 'Bill' Haynes, Sr., age 87, passed away January 9, 2022 at Jackson Manor in Jackson, Missouri.
He was born April 17, 1934 in Farrenburg, Missouri, son of the late William Paul and Eve Belle (Sweet) Haynes. Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 21, 1952. He retired as Master-Sergeant on August 1, 1972 and was a veteran of the Korean War.
On December 24, 1954 he married Jacqueline Ellen (Thomas) Haynes. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2016, after 61 years of marriage.
He is survived by his two sons, William V. 'Buck' (Angie) Haynes of Southaven, Mississippi and Robert Paul 'Bob' (Cendy) Haynes of Jackson, Missouri; and two grandchildren, William Preston Haynes of Springfield, Missouri and Alexis Grace Haynes of Hernando, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, from 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home with full military honors.
Inurnment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
